Events and Advisory Recording System (EARS) Project

Ambica designed, developed and supported an n-tier architecture intranet/internet system (including finance module and interface to WorldPay via an events online booking site) used to record the events and advisory work of Acas. Microsoft Patterns and Practices were followed for the design. Technology used included:

  • Microsoft Data Access, Exception Handling and Logging Application Blocks.
  • Telerik r.a.d. controls (including r.a.d Ajax)
  • Visual Studio .NET 2005
  • C#.NET
  • ASP.NET 2.0
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • JavaScript
  • SQL Server 2005 stored procedures and triggers.

Ambica developed the following:

  • Master, login, change password and error pages.
  • User and role maintenance pages using ASP.NET Membership and Roles. Administration pages (including lookup maintenance, office, region and site administration pages).
  • Finance module (including income and expenditure, create invoice, customer invoice list, event invoice list, invoice edit, receipt list and edit, invoice search, unpaid invoices list and SUN feed pages).
  • Advice, business development, collective conciliation, workplace services and miscellaneous activity pages.
  • Customer Delivery Days (CDD) output page.
  • Event venue list and edit pages.
  • Output to following Word templates using Aspose.Words: charged letter of understanding, CIWM in-house feedback form, CIWM open access feedback form, CIWM organisation contact form, collaborative letter of understanding, commissioner feedback form, commissioner letter, debt letters, mediation contract letter, mediation letter to parties, training letter of understanding and waived fee letter of understanding.
  • Export to SUN finance system via Excel spreadsheets using Aspose.Cells.
After going live in April 2007 Ambica provided support for the new system delivering many enhancements, including:
  • Output to invoice and receipt PDF templates using Aspose.Pdf.
  • Introduction of customer statuses of Open and Closed.
  • Changing invoicing for workplace training.
  • Allowing certain users to override VAT statuses for work.
  • Introduction of event completed status.
  • Enabling emailing of invoices, receipts and event joining instructions to customers.
  • Allowing collaborative events to have more than one partner.
  • Removing edit restrictions from customer, contact person and customer delegate pages.
Ambica designed, developed and supported user acceptance testing of phase 2 of the EARS project which included the following enhancements:
  • New events online booking site.
  • Online payments via WorldPay of invoices.
  • Changes to main EARS application to allow publishing of events to the events online booking site.

Ambica also took over support of the EARS reporting sub-system using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to make a number of minor enhancements.
